About Us

Fox in Stony Rapids, SaskatchewanAl’s Place has been opened since August 1, 2004. Starting with 12 rooms, a 9 room expansion was added for a total of 21 rooms. For the North we have the finest rooms which provide our guests with modern amenities, such as Star Choice satellite television, wireless high speed internet and telephones. Each room has its own climate controlled units for heat and air-conditioning. To ensure guest safety and security, the building is equipped with camera security both inside and out. The establishment regularly maintains room quality by changing and upgrading the towels, pillows and beddings.

In the dining room, we use the highest quality products to provide our customers with one of the best eating establishments in Saskatchewan. We are not a fast food outlet, therefore if you are in a hurry or have a flight to catch, please allow yourself enough time to order. Our menu provides an extensive list of items that are not expected in the north, with fresh produce and high standard ingredients. The kitchen is certified by the health inspection office on an annual basis. We also cater to large groups and events outside of the establishment. Individuals or organizations wishing to book the dining room for meetings or special occasions can do so by reserving in advance.

Loons in Stony Rapids, SaskatchewanSince opening on August 1, 2004, Al has maintained a policy whereby he hires treaty, local and individuals from the region with the exception of hiring youth. Providing local youth with employment in the service industry gives them the experience to seek employment in the future.  Before opening the hotel, Al operated the Athabasca Airways (now Transwest Air) base in Stony Rapids for 15 years and maintained and supervised staff from within the communities of Fond-du-Lac, Black Lake and Uranium City in both the office and on the grounds. In the Hotel business, the intention is to provide opportunities in the areas of housekeeping, dining room and kitchen.

All of our staff are pleased and appreciate you patronizing Al’s Place to keep them employed.
